Massimo Introvigne: Visual Artworks of The Church of Almighty God Convey a Very Deep Message

Brief introduction:

In 1991, Almighty God, the returned Lord Jesus in the last days, appeared and began to work, expressing the truth—The Word Appears in the Flesh, and The Church of Almighty God came into being. Since 2014, some Christians from The Church of Almighty God fled overseas to escape from the brutal persecution of the CCP. They finally have the freedom of belief. In order to spread the truth expressed by Almighty God and testify to the kingdom gospel, they started to produce various artworks such as paintings, movies, musicals, hymns, dances, and music videos. In this episode, we have invited Professor Massimo Introvigne, a well-known Italian scholar of new religious movements, founder and managing director of Center for Studies on New Religions (CESNUR). He is going to talk about the visual artworks produced by The Church of Almighty God in recent years, from the paintings such as “God Making Clothes for Adam and Eve” and “Rainbow Covenant” to musicals such as “Xiaozhen’s Story,” as well as other artworks, Chronicles of Religious Persecution in China, and God Will Restore the Former State of Creation—New Heaven and New Earth. Ever since I accepted the work of Almighty God in the last days, I read much of the word of God, and gradually understood something about the three stages of God’s work, the mystery of the incarnation, the meaning of God’ names, the inside story of the Bible, and other aspects, and I also had better faith in God. When I had just begun, I was cut to my heart and pained when I read the words about God judging people’s satanic nature. I still had some notions inside me, and thought that God spoke too sternly. Later, I read in the word of God: “In the last days, Christ uses a variety of truths to teach man, reveal the essence of man, and dissect his words and deeds. These words comprise various truths, such as man’s duty, how man should obey God, how man should be loyal to God, how man ought to live out the normal humanity, as well as the wisdom and disposition of God, and so on.

In August of 2015, we suspended business operations because the company was not doing well, and I returned home. At that time, I felt very depressed, and would get drunk and play cards all day. When my wife told me I should stop drinking, I would horribly abuse her by saying: “It’s my money, I earned it, and I’ll spend it however I want….” I cursed her so horribly, and my daughter didn’t dare to say anything, but just stood nervously on one side watching. Although the people from the religious community didn’t come to bother me again, the church leaders still continued to incite my folks to harass me. Every few days they would come over to my house to urge me to change my mind, and they always insisted that I go over to the leader’s place to “repent.” One day, my folks came over and my father tried to use a passage from the Bible to deceive me while my mother stood to one side and tearfully pleaded with me to go to the leader’s place to “repent.” It really upset me to see my mother so sad. I thought about how she had lost her mother at the age of 3 and was then abused by her stepmother.

At first I thought that handing the book of God’s words back to Sister Zhang would mean that my father would stop harassing me and that the tranquil life I once had would resume. In fact, things turned out just the opposite: Not only didn’t I find peace in my heart, I actually felt an inexplicable emptiness there. All of us in my family believe in the Lord Jesus, and while I’m just an ordinary believer my father is one of the church’s co-workers. In February 2004, I accepted Almighty God’s work of the last days, and soon after I preached the gospel of the kingdom to my youngest sister. I originally was going to bear witness to God’s work of the last days for my father by equipping myself with some of God’s words and truths. But to my surprise, when my father heard that I’d accepted Almighty God’s work of the last days he went into a frenzy trying to disrupt and prevent my doing so.
