Chronicles of Religious Persecution | Christian Movie "The Cover-up"

Since it came to power in mainland China in 1949, the Chinese Communist Party has been unceasing in its persecution of religious faith. It has frantically arrested and murdered Christians, expelled and abused missionaries operating in China, confiscated and burned countless copies of the Bible, sealed up and demolished church buildings, and tried to eradicate all house churches.

This documentary film depicts the sudden and unexpected death of a Chinese Christian named Song Xiaolan—a death for which the CCP police provided inconsistent and conflicting explanations. After investigating, the Song family discovered that the police had been lying all along. A relative of the Song family learned from an acquaintance in the Public Security Bureau that Song Xiaolan had been being secretly monitored by the CCP police as a result of her belief in God and performance of her duties. When the police arrested her, they beat her to death. To avoid blame, the police covered up the truth by fabricating the scene of Song Xiaolan’s death….

Laide Shopping Mall is the largest shopping mall in the county town of Ji County. June 30, 2012, was a Saturday, and the Mall was doing a sales promotion, so there were many customers. A little past 3 p.m., a fire suddenly broke out in the Mall. Fearing that customers might not pay or might steal merchandise during the chaos, the boss had the doors (coiling doors) on the first floor closed and forced the customers to the second and the third floor. Unexpectedly, the fire became fiercer and fiercer. Eventually it became uncontrollable.

Since I accepted God’s work of the last days in 2007, although outwardly I had been busy in performing duty, I hadn’t given my heart to God and had often been overwhelmingly bound by some family affairs. Whenever I thought of my daughter who was already 30 yet hadn’t found a suitable boyfriend, I had complaints against God in my heart; my son just played around and wasted money rather than earned money, and I complained about it; my husband’s foreman didn’t pay him for his work, and I complained about it…. Complaining against heaven and earth, I often misunderstood God, as if God had been too unfair to me. Therefore, I lived in darkness and suffering. But I didn’t know to seek God, and was completely ignorant of the extent of my being in danger; I was only struggling in miseries helplessly. However, God had thorough knowledge of my state, and He called me and saved me in His unique way, so that I awakened from my dream and broke away from Satan’s afflictions.
